Rovio has been announced that a new version of Angry Birds game is about to be launched on March 22nd. It’s going to be the biggest game launch since the original Angry Birds! The new game would be named as Angry Birds Space. This game version has been developed with the help of NASA and National Geographic.

Rovio said, “Angry Birds Space is a completely new game with innovative new gameplay, but with some of the familiar Angry Birds elements that fans already know and love — plus some surprises!”.

Rovio Entertainment has officially launched Angry Birds on Facebook. The new game will feature the delightful Angry Birds gameplay that fans already know and love, but with added social and competitive elements, brand new power-ups, and Facebook-exclusive levels.

Samsung announced today at CES 2011 that the Angry Birds will be coming to Samsung TVs later this year and it's not just the game, in addition, Rovio, the maker of the Angry Birds games, will provide animated Angry Birds shorts to Samsung’s Angry Birds channel for the Smart TVs.

This content will make Samsung’s Smart TV models to be the first TVs in this generation that are able to support the hit game without having to purchase an external set-top box.

Angry Birds isn’t slowing down. According to its creators, gamers are spending millions of hours per day engaging with the mobile gaming phenomenon.

Andrew Stalbow, Rovio‘s GM of North America, says that the various version of Angry Birds have been downloaded 400 million times. Thirty million people play the game on a daily basis, he announced at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco. One hundred thirty million people play Angry Birds monthly.

The result? Gamers spend a whopping 300 million minutes playing Angry Birds daily. That’s 109.5 billion minutes per year, or 1.825 billion hours.

Rovio Worth $1.2 Billion

Rovio is an entertainment media company based in Finland, and the creator of the globally successful Angry Birds franchise. Rovio was founded in 2003 as a mobile game development studio, and the company has developed several award-winning titles for various mobile platforms, is in talks to receive funding that would value the company at about $1.2 billion - Bloomberg reported.

The Espoo, Finland-based game maker is considering taking a strategic investment from a company in the entertainment business, said the people, who asked not to be named because the talks are private. The name of the entertainment company couldn’t immediately be determined. Rovio has rejected similar offers from large institutional investors, the people said.

Rovio may use any new funds to fuel its expansion. The company plans to make an “Angry Birds” movie and open offices outside of Finland, and is seeking to capitalize on the popularity of its brand in countries such as China, where it aims to sell stuffed animals and clothing in 200 retail stores.

The most likely investors in Rovio include game developers Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS) and Zynga Inc., and media giants News Corp. and Walt Disney Co. (DIS), said Michael Pachter, managing director of research at Wedbush Securities Inc. These companies could help Rovio reach new audiences, he said.

In March, Rovio received $42 million in funding from investors including Skype Technologies SA co-founder Niklas Zennstrom’s Atomico as well as Facebook Inc. backer Accel Partners.
“Angry Birds” was offered on Google Inc.’s new social-networking site.

Espoo, Finland, September 22 – Rovio Entertainment, in cooperation with Singtel, is delighted to launch the first ever Angry Birds Crowd Game at Singapore F1 GP. Rovio, the creator of the global phenomenon Angry Birds, has teamed up with Uplause Ltd., the creators of the world’s first live event gaming platform, to develop a new Angry Birds crowd game that can be played by audiences at live events.

Rovio and Uplause will take this innovative new gaming experience to the biggest live events in the world. Everywhere from sports stadiums to rock concerts, fans both new and old will get a chance to participate. When the audience is the controller, everybody gets to join in on the fun.
